Please send POLITE emails and letters stating why you are opposed to closure of Maplewood Elementary.

We suggest focusing your communication on one of these three areas:


  • The Process - flawed assumptions, lack of transparency, lack of community involvement, etc.
  • The Conclusions - missing almost all essential information; e.g. projected savings by campus; boundary changes; over enrollment that may result; future use of school properties; impact on staff; etc.
  • The rush to action - what is behind the target November 2019 target date for decision by the Board of Trustees; how will the Board consider alternative facilities plans in this short time period.
Of course feel free to explain that Maplewood is a successful model of diversity in action with strong enrollment, engaged community and parents, etc.

DO NOT disparage any other AISD school in your communications.
